Description

Crop damage from insect pests is one of the greatest challenges facing farmers in Kenya and across East Africa. Pests such as aphids, whiteflies, thrips, leaf miners, and caterpillars not only weaken plants by sucking sap or chewing foliage but also act as vectors for serious plant diseases. To ensure healthy crop development, farmers need a powerful, reliable, and affordable solution that targets these destructive insects. Thunder OD 145 Foliar Insecticide is formulated to do exactly that.

Thunder OD 145 is a highly effective foliar insecticide that combines two powerful active ingredients—Imidacloprid (100g/L) and Beta-cyfluthrin (45g/L)—delivering a dual mode of action for both immediate and long-term pest control. With its unique oil dispersion formulation, Thunder OD 145 penetrates deeply into leaf surfaces, ensuring extended residual action and rainfastness. This makes it one of the most trusted solutions for managing insect pests on a wide range of crops including maize, tomatoes, beans, coffee, French beans, cabbages, and roses.

How Thunder OD 145 Works

Thunder OD 145 delivers a dual mode of action through its two active ingredients:

  1. Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide that acts on the insect’s central nervous system by disrupting nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This leads to paralysis and eventual death of the pest. It is systemic in nature, meaning it is absorbed by plant tissues and protects the plant from the inside.

  2. Beta-cyfluthrin is a fast-acting pyrethroid that works through contact. It attacks the insect’s nervous system, causing rapid knockdown. It is highly effective against mobile and surface-feeding pests.

Together, these two ingredients offer complete coverage—killing pests that feed from within the plant and those that are on the surface. This dual action is especially useful for high-value crops that are vulnerable to both sap-sucking and chewing insects.

Thunder OD 145 is effective against a wide range of insect pests that commonly affect field and horticultural crops:

Key Benefits

Rapid Knockdown and Extended Control
Beta-cyfluthrin works on contact, offering immediate knockdown of pests. Imidacloprid provides long-lasting systemic protection by circulating within plant tissues.

Broad-Spectrum Efficacy
Thunder OD 145 controls both chewing and sucking pests, reducing the need for multiple insecticides.

Flexible Application Timing
Can be used at different stages of crop growth—early vegetative, flowering, or even fruiting—provided pre-harvest intervals are observed.

Rainfast and Penetrative
The oil dispersion formulation helps the product stick to the leaves and resist being washed away by rain. It also enhances penetration into leaf tissues.

Crop Safety
When used as directed, Thunder OD 145 is safe on recommended crops. It does not cause leaf burn or growth inhibition.

Improves Yield and Crop Quality
By keeping pest populations under control, the crop can grow without stress, leading to better flowering, fruit set, and harvest quality.

Application Instructions

Mixing
Shake the container well before use. Add 10 ml of Thunder OD 145 per 20 litres of clean water. Stir thoroughly to form a uniform solution.

Spraying Volume
Apply using a calibrated knapsack sprayer. Use 200 to 300 litres of water per hectare to ensure thorough coverage, especially on the underside of leaves and flower clusters.

Timing
Spray at the first sign of pest activity or during early crop stages as a preventive measure. Repeat applications every 7 to 14 days depending on pest pressure and crop susceptibility.

Rainfastness
The product is rainfast within 2 hours of application. Avoid spraying during periods of heavy rainfall or when rain is expected within an hour.
